Traditional ink wash on paper mounted to silk.

Scroll 1 (Left): Lotus flowers and leaves rendered in delicate ink and color wash with botanical accuracy. Pink-red blooms with green foliage on pale ground, accompanied by calligraphic inscription and poetic text. Signed with two red seals. Mounted on sage-green silk with decorative border pattern. Shows some age-related foxing.

Scroll 2 (Center): Bold semi-cursive calligraphy (行書/gyōsho) in vigorous, expressive brushwork. Signed "Kei Kitsu" (喜橘) with two red seals. Mounted on golden-tan silk with brown brocade borders. Notable for its dynamic, confident script style.

Scroll 3 (Right): Kachō-ga (bird-and-flower painting) depicting birds in flight above chrysanthemums rendered in spontaneous ink and light color. The composition demonstrates the "boneless" (没骨/mokkotsu) painting technique. Signed with inscription and two red seals. Mounted on sage-green silk with decorative border. Some foxing visible throughout.

All three scrolls are stored in bamboo cases (tomobako) with calligraphic inscriptions identifying the contents. The works represent different aspects of East Asian painting tradition, likely dating from the late 19th to mid-20th century with varying states of preservation.

Variable sizes, approximately up to 6 ft high by up to 24 in wide. Total weight is approximately 3 lbs.

Condition

Discoloration throughout. Some foxing. Scratches and scuffs. Holes from insects. Some lift between material layers. Creasing throughout.
