Steinway & Sons Model O Grand Piano, circa 1910, Serial no. 140282. Brown mahogany case.
Case: Brown mahogany finish, very worn.
Keys: Ivory keytops with only one chip, and ebony sharps. Key bushings show some wear but are in good condition.
Soundboard, bridges and ribs: Excellent condition.
Plate: No cracks and no re-welding.
Strings: Rusty, with bass strings a bit dull. The piano is up to pitch.
Pinblock: Tuning pins are getting a little loose (size 2/0 pins).
Dampers: The bottom 10 notes need new damper pads.
Lyre and pedals: Bushings are a little loose and can be tightened. Pedal plating is worn.
Hammers and knuckles: Replaced about 60 years ago. Hammers still have good felt, and the top three hammers are different.
Flanges: Original, in good condition.
Wippens: Original, without jack placement, and should be replaced.
Back checks: Original, with buckskin in good condition.
Regulation: The action needs full regulation.
Technician's summary: The piano can be tuned and plays pretty well. It should be rebuilt in the near future.
