Pablo Picasso (Spanish/French, 1881-1973), "Sculpteur et son modèle avec un groupe sculpté représentant un centaure embrassant une femme" (Sculptor and His Model with a Sculpted Group Representing a Centaur Embracing a Woman) #58, etching published by Ambroise Vollard (French, 1867-1939) in 1939, with full margins, signed in black on lower right. The Suite Vollard is a set of 100 etchings by Pablo Picasso, rendered in a Neoclassical Style and named for Ambroise Vollard, the art dealer who commissioned them. Picasso worked on the series from the spring of 1933 until sometime in 1937. It took two more years for the printmaker Roger Lacouriere to finish printing the 230 full sets; however, due to Vollard's death in 1939 and the circumstances of World War II, they only came to the art market in the 1950s.
