Born in the Bronx, Lubner moved to Los Angeles as a child and received his M.A. from UCLA in 1953. His work was shown in galleries internationally and has been included in the permanent collections of many museums including MOCA, LACMA and the Tate. Lubner dedicated his life to painting and teaching. He was on faculty at UCLA and The Royal College of Art and ran a private teaching studio for sixty-two years. Beloved by his students, Lubner's unique curriculum involved art historical lectures, technique and criticism.
