Traditional ink wash on paper mounted to silk. One is calligraphy on silk and is unmounted.

Scroll 1 (Left): Plum blossom (梅/ume) painting depicting gnarled branches with delicate blossoms rendered in monochromatic ink with subtle detail. The composition demonstrates traditional scholarly painting techniques. Extensive calligraphic inscription and poem with two red seals. Signed "Kyōundō Unkyō" (杏雲堂雲卿). Mounted on golden-tan silk.

Scroll 2 (Center): Kachō-ga (bird-and-flower painting) featuring a pair of birds perched on flowering branches with autumn foliage in delicate ink and light color. The composition shows seasonal flowers including chrysanthemums. Signed "Eisan" (榮山) with circular red seal. Mounted on olive-green speckled silk with decorative border.

Scroll 3 (Right): Bold semi-cursive calligraphy (行書/gyōsho) in dynamic, flowing brushwork reading vertically. The expressive script demonstrates confident handling of the brush. Signed "Jōiraishi" (にらい子) with two red seals. Unmounted on paper with golden-tan silk border reinforcement, showing edge wear.

All three scrolls are stored in bamboo cases (tomobako) with calligraphic inscriptions. The works represent traditional painting and calligraphy subjects, likely dating from the late 19th to mid-20th century with varying conditions of preservation.

Variable sizes, approximately up to 6 ft high by up to 27 in wide. Total weight is approximately 3 lbs.

Condition

Discoloration throughout. Some foxing. Scratches and scuffs. Holes from insects. Some lift between material layers. Creasing throughout.
