Includes a typed note from Gleason "SHIP'S HEAD AND RAILING" detailing origins of figurehead: "The Ship’s Figurehead and Railing included a typed note stating that Captain Clarence Martin sent the piece to Joe Duncan Gleason during World War II from Noumea, New Caledonia after salvaging them from a beached Schooner owned by a French Line."
